The City of Portland is seeking an Electronic Technician II ITS and Traffic Signals
PBOT's Traffic Signals, Street Lighting & ITS Division specifically plans, designs, builds, and maintains the city's traffic signals, street lighting systems, and ITS systems, which consist of approximately 1,100 traffic signals, 55,000 street lights, 70 rectangular rapid flash beacons, 170 school beacons, CCTV cameras, Variable Message Signs, Communication equipment and various other electrical elements throughout the City of Portland. This position is specifically within the Intelligent Transportation Systems Section.
The Traffic Signal, Street Lighting & ITS duties include:
•Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repairs a variety of communication equipment.
•Assists in installing Intelligent Transportation System communication equipment. Technology may include microwave, Bluetooth Readers, data circuits and equipment, CCTV systems, Ruggedcom communication equipment, antenna systems, etc.
•Assist with constructability reviews on traffic signal, street lighting & ITS plans; prepare project cost estimates for materials and labor
•Assist electricians and engineers with communications traffic signal central system to signalized intersections running IKS, W9FT, Voyage, and MaxTime local software; assist with monitoring of communications to traffic signals, CCTV, and Variable Message Signs.
•Respond to failures and emergencies involving communications equipment and perform routine and preventative maintenance.
•Perform communications related installations; operate a variety of hand and power tools and testing.
•Maintain records, supplies and equipment and determines material needs
