The Building Services section of the Planning and Development Services Division is currently hiring for a Building Permit Technician II. This team is a full-service building permit office for all phases of construction on commercial and residential properties in unincorporated Washington County and inside the city limits of Banks, Gaston and North Plains. Building Services also provides electrical permitting, plan review and inspections for the cities of Cornelius, Durham, Forest Grove, Sherwood, and Tualatin. In addition, the team provides plumbing permitting and inspections for the cities of Banks, Gaston and North Plains.

As a Building Permit Technician II, you will be responsible for setting up and issuing building permits. You will also provide verbal and written information to the public about County building permit processes and procedures to ensure a thorough understanding of the building permit process. In addition, you will assist field inspectors, plans examiners, planners, other County departments, local government agencies and the public with the research of permit records as well as providing assistance for technical issues.

Education and Experience
A typical way to obtain the minimum required knowledge and abilities would be:
A high school diploma or equivalent; AND
Two (2) years of experience in processing building permit applications; OR
Two (2) years of experience in administrative support and customer service experience related to land use regulations, the building process, the construction industry, drafting, or mapping; AND One (1) year of experience in processing building permit applications.

Additional Licenses, Certificates, Physical Abilities and Specialty Requirements
Must have the ability to arrange for timely transportation in order to attend appointments and meetings at locations throughout the State of Oregon.
Possession of International Code Council (ICC) permit technician certification.
