The Capital Project Services (CPS) division is a group of professional and technical experts who collectively administer the planning, design, and construction of major transportation improvement projects throughout Washington County. CPS also provides Right-of-Way Administration, Land Acquisition Services and Utility Coordination Services.

Utility Coordination Services is an important part of capital projects. This role works closely with utility companies to provide technical assistance and to identify and resolve conflicts with a proposed project design. This position also provides technical assistance to engineering staff, consultants, developers, project managers and contractors. In addition, the individual in this position will investigate utility issues affecting property owners, contractors, and maintenance operations.

Ideal candidates should have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers, representatives from multiple utility companies, and should have knowledge in the design and construction of transportation related projects.

Education and Experience
A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
A Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering, construction engineering management, surveying, or closely related field; AND Two (2) years of transportation-related experience applying civil engineering theory, principles, and methods with emphasis on maintenance, plan preparation and review, road and bridge construction, inspection, and/or design review. OR
A Master's Degree in civil engineering, construction engineering management, surveying, or closely related field; AND One (1) year of transportation-related experience applying civil engineering theory, principles, and methods with emphasis on maintenance, plan preparation and review, road and bridge construction, inspection, and/or design review.
Possession of a Fundamentals of Engineering certificate in Civil Engineering is required.
