Economic Development Manager – County Manager Office
The Economic Development Manager assists, advises, and represents the County Council in their management and oversight of economic development within the county.
The work involves developing, managing, and administering the Board’s economic development policies, working cooperatively with the public, business community, Columbia River Economic Development Council (CREDC), local and regional governments and organizations on economic development strategies; providing assistance to existing and potential business development interests; and providing highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Board.
This position is expected to develop and maintain collaborative, effective, and productive working relationships, both internal and external to the county organization, and to consistently provide quality service to the residents of Clark County. This position will serve at the pleasure of the County Council.
This position receives policy direction from the County Council and general administrative direction from the County Manager.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in economics, public or business administration, planning, or a related field; and five years of increasingly responsible professional experience in a field related to economic development, preferably in a state or local government. A Master’s degree will substitute for two of the required years of experience.
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
Knowledge of... Complexities of local governmental operations; principles and practices of economic development; principles and techniques of organizational management and administration; analysis and evaluation of policies, procedures, public information, and service delivery issues within the field of economic development; local and state lawmaking processes; research methods and techniques; role of advocacy in local governments; interpersonal and public relations techniques; personal computer applications and usage.
Ability to... Write clear and concise reports, memoranda, and letters; analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and formulate recommendations; provide administrative and professional leadership and direction to economic development activities; develop, implement, and administer goals, objectives, and procedures for providing effective and efficient economic and community development services; work effectively with others to achieve personal, team, departmental, and countywide goals; establish and maintain.

Salary Grade: M2.824 ($5,985.00 - $8,456.00) per month
