The City of Salem Public Works Department is seeking candidates for Project Leader I. The Project Leader I performs skilled lead maintenance work in one or more areas in related to the maintenance of City facilities, utilities, or infrastructure by planning, coordinating and scheduling of construction, maintenance or repair work. The Project Leader I position requires the incumbent to use judgment about materials, methods and work quality. They are responsible for the timely and quality completion of projects, and to ensure that projects are completed within the scope and conditions of the contract specifications.
Currently a vacancy in Street Maintenance: Paving section. The assignments for this position will be overseeing a crew with responsibility for planning and implementing projects for mainline paving, asphalt trench patching, pothole repair, shoulder maintenance, slurry seal and alley repair.
The project leader will need to plan and complete pre project work such as work orders, traffic control, notifying affected business or residents, and ensuring proper documentation related to the project is completed.
How would I qualify?
Minimum Qualifications •Must pass the pre-employment background check
•Must pass pre employment drug screen
•Must have an Oregon Commercial Driver's license
•Must have a driving record that meets the City of Salem's driving standards
High School degree or G.E.D., supplemented by trade or professional training technical training or course work in construction, maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, electrical trades, architecture, or closely related field in the area of specialty;
Four (4) years' of experience in repair, construction and maintenance of asphalt streets in a municipal setting, including traffic control and lead responsibilities.
