Position Summary:
Support regional restoration projects by caring for rare native plant materials in this seasonal position with Metro.

The temporary Botanical Program Assistant will provide specialized technical field assistance for the scouting, identifying and collecting of native herbaceous voucher specimens, collecting and tracking associated data, collecting seed and preparing seed for long term banking, and the processing, labeling and mounting of high quality herbarium voucher specimens.

This part-time position will ensure the timely and successful collection of high fidelity oak and prairie species vouchers and seed from metro properties as well as the continuing uplift of NPC volunteers experience and knowledge of conservation and seed banking. This project supports the ongoing growth of the PSU herbarium and the Rae Selling Berry Seed Bank housed at Portland State University.

About: The Native Plant Center (NPC) is engaged in a high priority Oak and Prairie Species Conservation and Seed Banking levy project. Additional staff resources will be required to achieve the project's identified 2019 objectives and goals.

Minimum Requirements:
• High school diploma or G.E.D. and two years of administrative and/or clerical work experience;
• or any combination of education and experience which would provide the applicant with the desired knowledge skills, and ability required to perform the job.
• Valid driver's license issued in state of residence.
