The Associate Dean of Technology, Applied Sciences, and Public Service works in partnership with the Dean to focus on implementing the vision for an integrated division. This position supports and compliments the work of the Dean, which includes planning, assessment, organizing, and managing operational changes and instructional efforts that promote student success. The Associate Dean provides significant support for operations of these departments and operations of the college as a whole. With significant responsibility for assessment, student conduct, unit planning, and Perkins, this position is accountable to both internal and external partners as well as the shared college outcomes related to mission fulfillment. In addition, this position provides support to the faculty, staff and academic programs located at the Oregon City campus and shared support to the Harmony and Wilsonville campus. Collaboration across the college and within the division to actively build consensus among staff, faculty, and administrators who value equitable access for students is an essential part of this position as well as to a culture of shared governance.

Incumbent's scope involves a high degree of complexity with a wide diversity of work situations. They are responsible for developing policies and objectives. Their decisions may affect a work unit or area within a department and may contribute to business and operational decisions that affect the department.

Incumbent deals with highly varied, complex, and often non-recurring problems that require novel and creative approaches to resolution where new concepts and approaches may have to be developed. They set their own goals and determine how to accomplish defined results with few or no guidelines to follow, although past practices may exist. Their supervisor/manager provides broad guidance and overall direction.

Incumbent has partial budgetary preparation/compliance accountability with a high operating budgetary authority. They have partial accountability for both long-range operational planning and strategic planning. Incumbent has partial accountability and high budgetary level of control of capital assets.
This position is supervisory in nature and contacts frequently contain confidential and sensitive information necessitating discretion at all times. Contacts are usually made with other departments or locations both inside and outside of Clackamas Community College.

Leadership (30% of time)
• Assist the Leadership Cabinet in creating and maintaining an open, collaborative, and inclusive college environment focused on student learning and student success. Support institutional collaborative decision-making processes and institutional initiatives. Provide leadership for institutional and state-wide initiatives
• Serve on college-wide committees and works with the other administrators in a team environment. Works collaboratively with division personnel and other College faculty and staff to facilitate excellence, efficiency, sustainability, and continual improvement in operational processes and support for instruction and service to students.
• Coordinate team participation for specific projects, including planning, assessment, budgeting, facilitating, documenting, and redirecting team efforts as appropriate to College value of shared governance.
• Provide documentation of decisions made within teams for project management as well as identify outcomes for reporting and program improvement goals that align with Strategic Priorities.
• Participate in leadership development and team building activities.
• Collaborate to envision, design, implement, assess, and continuously improve operational processes for the College
• Work collaboratively with colleagues throughout the college to implement the strategic plan and institutional activities.
• Actively contribute to a work environment that embraces diversity and diverse perspectives and builds constructive working relationships characterized by a high level of acceptance, cooperation, and mutual respect.
• Support institutional collaborative decision-making processes
• Facilitate a cooperative and committed culture that supports efforts to establish and accomplish individual, department, division, and College goals.
• Serve on the Curriculum Committee, ARC, BIT, CCC Ready, Assessment Committee, and Budget Advisory Committee.
• Develop safety policies and procedures for manufacturing, welding, automotive technology, and automotive collision and repair programs to ensure compliance all appropriate guidelines and regulations. Assist with NATEF accreditation paperwork.
• Work with dean and LMI work group to develop a system for evaluating the relevance of academic programs.
• Provide leadership for the statewide CTE Leaders group, attend IBEST training, and attend FEMA emergency management training as appropriate
• Work with Deans planning subcommittee to create an integrated model for displaying mission fulfillment through integrated assessment, planning, and budgeting,
Student Conduct (15% of time)
• Responsible for and attend weekly Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) meetings and deal appropriately with student behavior according to college policies and procedures.
• Collect and maintain all student discipline files and materials in associate dean office in locked file cabinet.
• Collaborate with the members of the BIT team and students to evaluate students of concern and take appropriate action, including disciplinary action
• Work collaboratively with associate deans to create, maintain, and upstate the college's student code of conduct and student conduct policies, procedures, and processes.
• Provide leadership for student conduct at the college and division levels
• Maintain and oversee the central repository of information associated with student disciplinary processes.
• Facilitate emotionally charged complaint resolution.
• Create, maintain, and update the college's student code of conduct and student conduct policies, procedures, and processes as a member of the Behavior Intervention Team (BIT). Operations: Management and Support (30% of time)
• Lead the division course outline review committee. Meet every week to review and provide feedback on course outlines submitted by division members, then submit to Curriculum Committee for approval.
• Monitor enrollment numbers and have conversations with faculty members as to the cause for the increase or decrease.
• Work with department chairs to develop budgets for the upcoming academic year. Monitor budgets for over expenditures.
• Work with Dean to make sure that TAPS is represented on college-wide committees.
• Work with department chairs to brainstorm new and innovative ways to attract students into TAPS division programs.
• Approve course term masters changes, review course outlines, assist faculty with curriculum changes. Analyze retention information and ensure a focus on enrollment efficiencies within the division Monitor FTE targets and budget resources.
• Assist in facilitating committee assignments and division representation in college-wide activities and initiatives.
• Assist in the development of marketing materials leading to program recognition and growth.
• Provide supervision of classified staff.
• Work with department chairs to provide administrative oversight, coordination, and tracking of part-time faculty evaluations.
• May administer, oversee, and coordinate grant activities and other institutional initiatives with internal and external partners.
Internal and External Relationships (10% of time)
• Actively contribute to a work environment that embraces diversity and diverse perspectives and builds constructive working relationships characterized by a high level of acceptance, cooperation, and mutual respect. Facilitate change within a cooperative, committed culture that supports efforts to establish and accomplish individual, department, division, and College goals.
• Represent the College and/or the Division on assigned College Committees.
• Respond to inquiries from College departments, educational institutions, the community, students, and/or external agencies.
• Effectively represent the College in community service activities and partnerships, state-wide committees, and task forces.
• Establish and maintain communication and cooperative working relationships with community partners and the public.
• Working with department chairs to complete and submit documents to Clackamas ESD and C-TEC for annual Perkins reports, and CCC Business Office to reconcile Perkins expenditures and prepare annual report. Working with faculty, dean, and business office to ensure Perkins grant funds are appropriately spent by the deadline.
• Work with C-TEC, high schools, Clackamas ESD, and Timber Lake Job Corps Center to expand articulation agreements and partnerships and currently the Chair for the CC CTE Leaders.Assessment and Accreditation (15% of time)
• Assist in the development of division planning efforts in line with the college's strategic plan. Provide leadership and support in accomplishing accreditation, program review, and program assessment activities. Engage in best practice research and evidence-based analysis. Work collaboratively with colleagues throughout the division to complete unit planning, program assessment and accreditation reporting requirements.
• Work collaboratively with division colleagues to implement their assessment plans, programmatic accreditations, and institutional accreditation activities.
• In collaboration with colleagues, complete internal assessment and external accreditation reporting requirements.
• Work with TAPS faculty to create, align, and/or change program outcomes.
• Work with TAPS faculty and department chairs to use assessment data for unit planning and program improvement planning.
• Work with TAPS faculty to prepare self-assessments and other documents for initial and continued approval for programmatic accreditations. (EMT, CLA, Automotive services).
• Work with college deans, faculty, and staff to ensure adherence to NWCCU accreditation guidelines.

Master's degree; 1 year of relevant work experience, including management and supervisory experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties as described.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to relate well to diverse populations. Demonstrated ability to use computer information systems for data collection, reporting and analysis. Two years' leadership experience in postsecondary education with demonstrated collaborative, consensus-building skills.

Teaching experience in a community college setting. Experience developing course curriculum and schedules. Experience in business and industry or with career and technical education. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills combined with a collaborative work style. Experience in a team–based environment. Project management and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data to identify trends and needs. Demonstrated ability to relate to students, staff, and faculty of varied ethnicity, ages, backgrounds and abilities and a commitment to a culturally diverse environment.

Ability to secure and maintain a driver's license valid in the state of Oregon, or an acceptable alternative means of transportation.
