The role:
Are you passionate about multimodal transportation? As an associate transportation planner on our team, you will support the Urban Mobility and Mega Projects Office and the Tolling Program, which advances projects for further study on both I-5 and I-205 to raise revenue and manage congestion. This role provides high-level support for planning and environmental review, as required by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and will provide research and policy analysis on tolling and multimodal transportation topics. A day in the life:
- Collaborate with project manager and principal planner to support activities necessary to ensure the Tolling Program is moved through the project development process.
- Prepare summaries and narrative statements from conclusions based on analyses of technical facts in project studies.
- Determine sources of and collect, analyze and report on demographic, economic, historic, legal and other data.
- Prepare and review technical documents to support planning and environmental processes.
- Assist in developing an agency coordination plan.
- Maintain appropriate communication with team, consultants and other stakeholders including agencies.
- Conduct research regarding transportation planning and policy related to tolling, congestion pricing and regulatory requirements.
- Compile research findings and make recommendations for project teams.
- Monitor progress on assignments against scope and scheduled due dates.
- Organize and advertise public information meetings and publish press releases.
- Respond to public inquiries and Ask ODOT requests.
- Represent ODOT in external and internal agency meetings, public meetings and one-on-one contacts with citizens and businesses.
- Assist with stakeholder involvement resources, such as databases and websites.
- Coordinate project team meetings.
- Provide technical and administrative project support and serve as a resource to advisory committees.

What we need:
A bachelor's degree in urban or regional planning, public administration, social science, civil engineering, architecture, economics, geography or a related field and one year of progressively responsible planning experience related to the job.
Note: A master's degree in community, urban or regional planning, public administration, social science, civil engineering, architecture, economics, geography or a related field may substitute for one (1) year of experience.
OR
Four years of progressively responsible planning experience related to the job.
Note: Coursework in urban or regional planning, public administration, social science, civil engineering, architecture, economics, geography or a related field can substitute for up to two (2) years of the progressively responsible experience.

Additionally, driving is an essential function of this position. A valid driver license and an acceptable driving record are required for this position.
