This is a working supervisor position, the supervisor's location is on the production floor.
The position schedule is primarily mornings 7:00am-3:45 pm but will need to be able to cover sing shifts as needed - must be available to work other shifts.
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
Direct and coordinate activities of the Quality Control department and ensuring customer quality requirements are met.
Manage daily performance of QC staff. Responsible to staff, lead, motivate and train QC personnel to meet or exceed department and company goals and objectives.
Establish and maintain lean manufacturing pull system to prioritize workload and provide work direction for QC staff; communicate and resolve schedule and quality issues with Planning and Manufacturing.
Drive department continual improvement through initiatives such as lean manufacturing and the 5S program.
Lead or assist in Quality department projects as assigned by Management and assist Engineering and Manufacturing with projects, as appropriate.
Investigate root cause of customer complaints and initiate/complete corrective action, as appropriate.
Assist the quality engineer in technical reviews of new/revised product to ensure the correct metrology resource is selected, component/finished product critical dimensions/features are identified and the correct inspection and serialization specifications are identified; resolve ambiguities regarding customer requirements with Engineering, Sales or Mfg.
Help define inspection methodology for inspecting products, utilizing knowledge of inspection processes and methods; determine if product conforms to customer dimensional/visual requirements using specifications, standards, gages or other methods; establish department work instructions, as appropriate.
Address & respond to all department personnel issues, such as vacation requests,
Perform other duties as assigned.
SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS:
Proficient in work prioritization and assignment using production schedules and/or lean mfg principles.
Proficient in personnel management; including but not limited to: work assignment/direction, policy adherence, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, hiring, subordinate development and training.
Proficient in root cause analysis, problem solving and use of corrective action systems.
Proficient in project management: Task/milestone identification & timeline and resource allocation.
Proficient in the use of computers; Microsoft Office software platform and ERP inventory control systems.
Proficient in development and implementation of department work instructions.
Proficient in reading and interpreting complex mechanical drawings using Geo Dimensional Tolerancing (GDT) ASME Y14.5.
Proficient in use of inspection equipment: Micrometers, height gages, test/dial indicators, calipers, profilometers, gage blocks, pin gages, feeler gages, optical comparators, microscopes, and go/no go gages.
Proficient in visual or cosmetic inspection, use of internal/customer specifications, standards and technical manuals.
Proficient in advanced mathematical applications-Algebra.
Familiar with ISO9000:2000 Quality Management Systems; with emphasis on the requirements that pertain to inspection and testing.
Familiar in the use of basic Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques- Control Charts (variable X&R), and run charts.
Familiar with calibration systems, and gage capability studies.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum 7 years similar experience within a manufacturing facility.
