The primary purpose of the IT Project Manager role is to lead, oversee, and ensure the successful delivery and management of single or multiple projects within scope, quality, time and cost constraints that may or may not be clearly defined. The Project Manager should ensure that the design, development, implementation and roll-out of new systems are carried out in an efficient and cost effective manner. This includes both custom built applications and applications provided by third party vendors.

Major Responsibilities/Primary Functions

● Directs and manages project development from beginning to end with project plans and associated communications documents
● Identifies and schedules project deliverables, milestones, required activities and tasks
● Ensures that project goals are accomplished and aligned with business objectives
● Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within budget
● Establishes standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation
● Performs risk assessments and implements mitigation plans
● Communicates timely project information, issues, risks, or status to the various stakeholders through appropriate methods and channels
● Establishes and continually manages project expectations with team members and other stakeholders
● Identifies and manages project dependencies and critical path
● Resolves resource constraints and/or conflicts that affect multiple projects for our developers and System Administrators
● Handles Ad hoc project requests from users
● Manages Junior Project Manager
● Coaches junior project managers and other IT staff who need assistance and advice regarding project management practices
● Reviews work plan of external service providers contracted to execute project
● Coordinates agency wide communications from IT department
● Schedules, plans and coordinates events for the IT department
● Works within the larger W+K community and IT team on a local, regional and global level

Qualifications, Distinguishing Characteristics and Special Requirements

● Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems or Business
● 7 years of project management experience on both small and large scale complex projects
● Distinctive blend of business, IT, financial, and communication skills, as this is a highly visible position with substantial impact
● Familiar with project management methodologies (for example, PMI, and Agile), certification preferred, but not required
● Demonstrated experience and ability in successfully utilizing "soft skills" or "people skills"
● Demonstrated sensitivity to working in a political environment and to interacting with senior leadership
● Basic understanding of IT technologies and methodologies
● An understanding of IT best practices and standards in a complex creative environment are key.
● Experience working for an advertising or design firm a plus
● Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced creative environment with excellent customer service skills
● Ability to interact with internal clients (and external vendors as needed) at a variety of levels and across functions
● A proven track record of gaining trust and respect by consistently demonstrating sound critical thinking skills and maintaining composure in stressful situations
● Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
● Highly organized with a keen sense of attention to detail and follow through skills
● Ability to prioritize a large number of tasks and self manage
