General Position Summary:
Contribute to the distribution of product from Columbia Sportswear’s main Distribution Center by resolving and expediting all customer order abnormalities associated with the Pickticket Management System (PkMS).
Physically move product for location to location as needed to fulfill customer orders. This movement is normally manual, but could be systematic.
Investigate lost cartons, containers, garments, Pickticket, and pull lists. Assist others with investigation and research as needed. Make decision whether to ship an order short based on all available information.
Monitor wave progression to ensure that problems are dealt with in a timely manner.
Assist the Scheduling Department with Pickticket research. Assist the Outbound area with bin and load research.
Prioritize workload based on the needs of individual departments.
Investigate invalid cartons and determine problem. Resolve issue(s) and forward order to appropriate destination. Resolution may include re-labeling carton, creating new carton, tagging, labeling, etc.
Update PkMS on status of cartons.
Generate Confirm Pick Report for Status Orders (orders that have gone through the pick/pack process and have been reversed in PkMS due to lack of product on site, no pick location, or no product at pick location). Research stock availability in PkMS and notify Customer Service or Information Services.
Coordinate with other departments and technical support staff to ensure smooth flow of information and product. Identify any reoccurring problems and communicate them to management.
Continuously lift/carry up to 40 pounds and frequently lift/carry up to 60 pounds.
Maintain positive open lines of communication with all Columbia Sportswear management, staff and other departments in order to contribute to the smooth flow of information and efficient operation of the organization.
Ability to cope with a stressful work environment and cordially interact with coworkers to accomplish common tasks.
Specific Job Skills:
Possess broad working knowledge of distribution center operations, PkMS and material handling tasks. Ability to read, write, and speak English. Mental ability to conduct interpersonal interactions with company personnel and prioritize workload. Possess intermediate level of computer skills. Ability to solve problems and make decisions independently and with discretion.
High school education or equivalent.
At least one year of experience in a distribution center is recommended.
Job may require that hours often exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week to complete priority projects. Exposure to Distribution Center machinery/equipment such as conveyor belts, forklifts and loading docks. Physical ability to move product around the DC for the duration of the shift. Physical ability to use telephone, move freely around the Distribution Center, stoop, crouch, and stand for extended periods of time. Ability to continuously lift/carry up to 40 pounds and frequently lift/carry up to 60 pounds. Exposure to computer CRT.
