The Academic and Career Advisor plays a key role in “Elevating Student Success,” one of the five goals in Portland State University’s Strategic Plan 2016-2020. The Advisor helps design innovative solutions, within the campus community of professional advisors. The advisor works with a specific academic unit or pathway and reports centrally.
The Advisor keeps current with learning strategies and emerging and state-of-the-art student success research, and analytics and technologies to enhance the unit’s knowledge and benefit PSU students. Work requires face-to-face and online interaction with students, colleagues, supervisors, administrators and faculty. The Advisor inspires and motivates students, is detail-oriented, and follows through with actions and commitments. At Portland State, advising is a shared responsibility among faculty and professional advisors.
This Academic and Career Advisor position will primarily focus on advising initiatives in the Maseeh College of Engineering & Computer Science.
