Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt has an immediate, full-time temporary to permanent opening in its Docketing department for an Intellectual Property (IP) Docketing Trainee to provide entry level docketing services to the firm’s large, growing IP practice group. The position, which reports to the IP Docketing Supervisor, offers the opportunity to work in a fast paced, challenging and friendly environment, with room to grow.

The position requires excellent attention to detail and accuracy while performing tasks that can be both complex, yet somewhat routine. The successful candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word), organized, and able to meet daily deadlines at a steady, ongoing pace. Candidate will work closely with docketing specialists and must be able to communicate professionally with IP paralegals and others.

Examples of duties include: prepare and distribute daily docket reports to attorneys and paralegals; download documents from the USPTO PAIR website; distribute scanned mail to docketing specialists; be trained to access the firm’s docketing software to move or clear previously docketed patent and trademark dates, and open new cases.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated self-starter who is interested in learning about intellectual property and IP docketing. Experience in a legal field is helpful, but any experience in a fast-paced business environment will be considered. Recent college graduates and individuals who have earned a paralegal certificate or degree are welcome to apply.
