The Communications team is currently recruiting for a part-time Graphic Designer. The successful candidate will work with department staff to develop and coordinate graphic concepts including print, online and multimedia applications. This position will also produce visual materials such as multi page annual reports, brochures, newsletters, posters, reports and other graphic or visual displays using information supplied. In this role, the incumbent will prepare preliminary layouts, original artwork, conceptual schematic studies and freehand perspectives. Finally, this position will design and develop charts, graphs, illustrations, documents and websites.

Our current vacancy is a regular part-time position, working up to 24 hours per week. In this role, you will accrue sick and vacation time, and are eligible for holiday pay. This position is not eligible for medical, dental, or vision benefits. There is potential for some work-from-home and/or flex time.

Education and Experience:
An Associates degree in art, graphic arts, commercial arts or a related field; AND
Two (2) years of work experience in graphic design or graphic arts production using computer graphics software specifically Adobe Creative Cloud/Creative Suite software.

Knowledge of:
Adobe Creative Suite – specifically InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop – to create original graphics, adapt stock images/illustrations, format text for print and online use.
Design and publishing, photography, computer hardware and software applications and other equipment necessary to prepare printed material, multimedia presentations and signage for the department and divisions.
Producing multi page annual reports in both print and digital formats.

Ability to:
Take images, illustrations, reports and more from initial concept through production to visually communicate a message or services to attract attention and promote impact, understanding and retention of information.
Work on multiple projects in a high-volume, high-pressure environment with tight deadlines.
