The Graphic Designer provides graphics support for the Department of Land Use & Transportation graphic design projects, including the planning, designing and implementation of graphic projects for web, print and multimedia platforms. This role works with department and County staff to develop and coordinate graphic concepts including print, online and multimedia applications. The incumbent will produce visual materials such as brochures, newsletters, posters, reports and other graphic or visual displays using information supplied. Additionally, the individual in this position will prepare preliminary layouts, conceptual schematic studies and freehand perspectives, as well as design and develop charts, graphs, illustrations, documents and other exhibits.

The ideal candidate will enjoy collaborating with others and is attentive to detail. Ideally, candidates will be highly skilled in using Adobe Creative Suite – specifically InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop – to create original graphics, adapt stock images/illustrations, format text for print and online use. Individuals should have the ability to work on multiple projects in a high-volume, high-pressure environment with tight deadlines. Additionally, candidates will possess photography and videography skills, as well as basic website skills, including HTML. Previous experience publishing work for a government department or agency is desirable, but not required. Experience working with PCs is preferred.

Education and Experience:
A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Associate's Degree in art, graphic arts, commercial arts, or a related field; AND
Two (2) years of work experience in graphic design or graphic arts production using computer graphics software.

If you have completed education in a foreign college or university and are using this education to meet the minimum qualifications, you must provide documentation that the foreign education is comparable to that received within the United States' accredited college or university system or your application will not be accepted.

Additional Licenses, Certificates, Physical Abilities, and Specialty Requirements:
Some positions may require the possession of a driver's license valid in the State of Oregon and have an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy.
