Permit Center Supervisor

Under general direction, the purpose of this position is to plan, prioritize, assign, and supervise the permit processing center activities and staff, emphasizing consistency in service delivery and excellent customer service.

Position Status: This is a full-time, regular, exempt position.

Work Schedule: The schedule for this position is M-F, 8 am to 5 pm

Plan, coordinate and organize daily activities of the permit center; route permit applications to the appropriate points of activity and coordinate with various staff as necessary to ensure a consistent, timely, efficient, and accurate review and issuance of permits and approvals.
Utilize permit software systems to produce reports, analyze data, resolve issues and improve processes.
Plan, organize and evaluate performance of assigned staff; establish performance requirements and personal development targets, coach for performance improvements, develop review procedures and take disciplinary action when necessary to address performance deficiencies.
Collect, record and balance permit related monetary transactions.
Ensure that all permit and entitlement records are kept and maintained as required in hard copy and electronic formats.
Function as division lead for all Public Disclosure Requests.
Mediate and resolve disputes, misunderstandings, etc., between customers and permit staff.
Develop and oversee the distribution of information handouts, brochures and website materials related to the permit center.
Provide training opportunities for customers on how to navigate the permit/plan review process.
Attend and participate in professional groups and committees.
Maintain files and reports regarding permit counter activities.
Research, compile, and analyze data for special projects and various reports.
Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Four (4) years of related experience as a Permit Technician II, or equivalent, performing in a lead capacity in a regulatory or permit processing environment with customer service responsibilities.

Equivalent to a Associate's Degree in building construction, urban planning, civil engineering, architecture, code enforcement, public or business administration, or a closely related field.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Computer Skills
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
Proficient in permitting software and electronic plan review software preferably in Infor and Project Dox.

Required Licenses and/or Certifications
Possession of:
Current Permit Technician or Plans Examiner certification issued by the International Code Council (ICC)
Ability to Obtain:
Current Permit Technician certification issued by the International Code Council (ICC) within first year of employment
