We are hiring a limited duration (scheduled to end June 30, 2022), full-time Operations and Policy Analyst 4 to join our management team in our Salem, Oregon office of the Oregon Department of Education.
As the Student Success Implementation Coordinator, you serve as an independent senior staff person to the Director of the Oregon Department of Education. You work with the Director, Executive Leadership Team, other administrative offices, and external partners and stakeholders on agency planning, coordination and development of new programs, policy development, administrative rules and other projects. You will also provide lead staff support, coordination and project management oversight for assigned projects (e.g. innovative practices, equity efforts, legislation, the Governor’s priorities, etc.). The primary role for this position is to coordinate, plan, implement and evaluate programs under the multi-billion Student Success Act investment (HB3427) emerging from the 2019-2021 legislative session.
What we are looking for:
A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Education, Project Management, Behavioral or Social Sciences, Finance, Political Science or any degree demonstrating the capacity for the knowledge and skills; and five years professional-level evaluative, analytical and planning work; OR Any combination of experience and education equivalent to eight years professional-level evaluative, analytical and planning work related to education.
Knowledge of Oregon's P-20 education system.
Experience providing advice or technical assistance to stakeholders or public.
Excellent writing and speaking skills.
Demonstrated experience in the application of project management and oversight for a complex project with multiple initiatives or processes.
Experience in effectively interpreting and evaluating various laws, rules, and/or standards in an effort to create clear communication and processes for implementation.
Ability to organize, prioritize and complete a variety of simultaneous tasks.
Experience working with culturally and individually diverse groups.
Ability to solicit and value diverse viewpoints.
A deep understanding of education equity is required.
Ability to use or quickly learn to use project management applications like SmartSheets is preferred.
Large and small group facilitation skills will be essential.
Fluent Spanish speaking skills are preferred.
