The City of Tigard's Public Works Department is currently seeking a qualified Assistant Public Works Director. The Assistant Director will be an experienced, organized, decisive and innovative leader with the highest degree of integrity and leadership as well as strong interpersonal skills and excellent judgment.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
•Will lead the effort of selection and implementation of a new asset management software.
•Will assist with the evaluation of the department's organizational structure and creation of a staff development plan.
•Will oversee efforts toward improving the work flow and data collection related to service requests and work orders
•Assumes management responsibility for major public works functions and activities, including the maintenance and operations of wastewater collection systems, stormwater, drainage, water distribution systems, streets, and public works engineering projects.
•Manages and participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned functions and programs.
•Assists in managing and participates in the development and administration of the Public Works annual budget and capital improvement budgets; directs the forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies.
•Selects, trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned personnel; provides or coordinates staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies; responds to staff questions and concerns.
•Serves as acting Director in the absence of the Public Works Director.
•Performs other duties as assigned.
Any combination of training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
•Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering, business or public administration, or a related field, AND
•Six (6) years of management and/or administrative experience in public works maintenance and operations.
