General Position Summary:

The purpose of this position is to support the eCommerce creative department with conceptualization, and design execution of all online initiatives for Columbia Sportswear. These initiatives include: the continual improvement of core functionality on the site, brand campaign support, site-wide promotions, email campaigns, and dedicated interactive experiences for both desktop and mobile. This person will have an uncompromising aesthetic for beautiful UI and design. A candidate will understand the complexity that is needed to support design within responsive environments. Working closely with fellow designers, the copywriter, and the e-commerce team, this position will translate and execute the brand message and brand guidelines to the company’s web site and other interactive spaces.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
•Design eCommerce site content, and emails.
•Optimize slices and work with developers.
•Design in browser within Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).
•Identify and solve design challenges including developing and iterating on attractive designs, graphic elements, and core assets
•Ability to clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to teams and clients.
•Work closely with the eCommerce design team and contractors, as well as the eCommerce development team, photography studio, merchandising team, marketing teams, and production team.
•Work with copywriters in creating on brand and engaging messaging. Partner closely with other creative groups in the company, such as photography, graphics, and apparel design, to ensure a consistent message and look and feel in all digital consumer material
•Deliver work on schedule, as agreed upon with the production team
•Drive site enhancements and ideas based on industry best practices and emerging trends

•Excellent working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
•Working knowledge of Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or similar CMS
•Excellent understanding of how to slice and optimize graphics for the web
•Understanding of HTML and CSS is preferred
•Experience in using UX design best practices to design solutions, and a understanding of mobile-first and responsive design
•Understanding of motion graphics and animation
•Understanding of video editing software a plus
•Uncompromising design and UI aesthetic
•Willingness to switch gears quickly and be flexible to work on concurrent projects.
