Senior Technical Product Marketing Manager

Puppet, Inc., Portland, OR

Job - Technology

Close Date: 02/29/2020

Hi, I’m Erik Frieberg, Chief Marketing Officer at Puppet.

I’m looking for a Senior Technical Product Marketing Manager to join our team to help craft the future of Puppet by helping prospects, customers and partners understand how Bolt, Puppet Enterprise and Puppet Remediate solve our customers’ problems and how they compare to competitive and complementary offerings from a technical perspective. You’ll work closely with the product management, product marketing, customer success, and sales teams to create technical marketing content—including blog posts, podcasts, white papers, and more—to increase sales velocity and guide prospects through technical validation and purchase decisions. We want someone who, like us, cares deeply about understanding our customers’ needs and takes pride in attracting them to Puppet, then helping them understand and relate the value of Puppet’s offerings to their needs. We’re working through complex challenges as we navigate an increasingly multi-cloud world with our customers — you’ll be instrumental in defining the next phase of Puppet.

Meaningful work you’ll contribute:
Represent our target audience by understanding their needs and being their champion. With a constant pulse on customer needs, competitive offerings and technology trends, you are uniquely positioned to orchestrate the creation of technical marketing content that resonates well.
Create compelling technical marketing content to help prospective customers get through their complex buying jobs faster and develop a trusted relationship with Puppet while they do.
Serve as an internal subject matter expert on how to competitively position Bolt, Puppet Enterprise, Puppet Remediate, and their related services.
You are:
An expert in how audiences experience your company in the context of their use cases — you are customer obsessed!
A creative writer and editor who knows how to appeal to your audiences’ heads and hearts about the value of engaging with your company.
A deliverer of delight. You relish delighting your internal stakeholders and end customers.
A team player — you understand enterprise marketing is a challenge best tackled as a team effort. You effectively partner with your product and marketing teams to arrive at the most useful and effective deliverables.
Valuable experiences and skills you’ll bring to Puppet:

At least 5+ years of content editing, product marketing, technical marketing or related experience, ideally with experience in DevOps and infrastructure automation practices, approaches and tools.
Results-oriented with a proven track record of success understanding and describing the value of enterprise software and practices for IT practitioners and decision-makers. You are creative, articulate, influential, and engaging.
Ability to take ownership of problems, take on big challenges and drive through resolution.
Demonstrates honesty, respect, and professionalism.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where every day brings new challenges and the need to intelligently adapt.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Occasional travel (via ground and/or air transportation), including but not limited to, operating a vehicle and/or riding as a passenger in a vehicle, airplane, train or other form of transportation. You will spend time at industry events, and working directly with prospects, customers and your teammates at Puppet.
Requires contact with others (face-to-face, by telephone, virtual meetings, VOIP or otherwise) and the ability to work and interact in a group or team.
BA or BS preferred.
