What you will be doing!

The primary purpose of this position is to identify, design, analyze, develop and maintain the agency’s mainframe technology systems by analyzing data and conferring with information technology customers to define problems and objectives and evaluate the feasibility of proposed new information technology systems. This position appraises the cost and practicability of potential improvements that may be derived from system modifications or design of new systems. This position assists in the planning for disaster recovery, security and change control.

In this role you will:

Develop programming code and software modifications using appropriate languages and tools to provide responsive and innovative solutions, and new functionality in enterprise-wide and/or complex specialized systems.
Research, design, and develop prototypes using different technologies.
Design integrated solutions which may include applications, databases, networks, and related systems.
Prepare and maintain documentation
Coordinate the implementation and documentation of the new system, requiring organized and timely contact with the user, software staff and operations.
Work directly with other IT resources, specifically network and desktop services, to insure high quality, timely and effective coordination of daily support.

What we are looking for!

Proficient with COBOL, EZtrieve/Eztrieve Plus, JCL, Endeavor
3 to 5 years of experience with multiple input/output file types, ASCII/EBCDIC, DBF, XML, VSAM, Fixed, delimited, and interacting with multiple processing tools
Ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence
In-depth experience designing and implementing information solutions including systems analysis, requirements gathering, design, coding and testing
High degree of initiative and engagement with assigned projects and stakeholders
Ability to analyze project needs as well as determine resources needed to meet objectives and solve problems that involve remote and elusive symptoms, often spanning multiple environments in a business area
Knowledge of project planning and management, including scope, time and resource management
Commitment to valuing diversity and promoting inclusion
Required Minimum Qualifications: Six (6) years of information systems experience; ORan Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field;AND
four (4) years of information systems experience; OR a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related fieldANDtwo (2) years of information systems experience;OR Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.
