Washington County, Oregon is currently recruiting its next Chief Human Resources Officer. The County seeks an experienced, visionary leader who is passionate about developing an exemplary human resources team and is dedicated to providing exceptional customer service for County departments. In addition to possessing strong managerial skills, the CHRO should be a self-aware, empathetic individual with high emotional intelligence who is able to effectively communicate with all audiences.

Under the direction of the Support Services Assistant Director, primary functions of the CHRO include planning, organizing, and managing the activities and staff of the Human Resources Division; integrating the delivery of comprehensive County-wide human resource management programs; providing expert advice and counsel to County departments and the County Administrative office on human resource related matters; and serving as the Chief Examiner for the Washington County Civil Service Commission.

The CHRO will have a unique opportunity to spearhead several important initiatives including advancing the County's diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts; establishing a County-wide training program; revising the County's performance management strategy; and updating and implementing a human resources strategic plan.

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
A Bachelor's Degree in Business of Public Administration, Human Resources Management, the Behavioral Sciences, or a related degree; AND,
Seven (7) years human resource management experience; two (2) of the seven years including the supervision and management of human resources staff.
Management experience in a public organization similar in size and complexity to Washington County, employee benefit management/administration and operationalizing diversity, equity, and inclusion in a multi-cultural environment, is preferred but not required.

The expected salary hiring range for this position is $126,006.72 - $160,822.08 Annually. A competitive total compensation package will consider the candidate's experience and expertise. Benefits offered to all employees include the following:
