Guide our Parks and Nature department in visitor experience, service delivery and community investments to support safe and welcoming spaces and achieve our mission and vision.
The community services program director oversees the park operations, interpretive services, community investments and historic cemeteries teams. This position plays a key role in advancing our mission: protecting clean water, restoring fish and wildlife habitat, and creating opportunities for people to enjoy nature close to home. Work closely with the department's leadership and management teams and staff to shape how we implement the Parks and Nature System Plan, Parks and Nature Racial Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan, the Parks and Nature Bond Measure and Parks Operation Plan so that we as a government agency can accomplish things differently and lead efforts in dismantling systems of oppression.
The community services program director reports to the department director and serves as a member of the leadership team, which includes a conservation program director and a deputy director. The community services program director will be a core part of the leadership team and vital partner to execute the director's vision. You will supervise three managers: parks superintendent, interpretive services manager, and community investments and cemeteries manager. These managers guide unit managers, supervisors and staff's day-to-day work within your portfolio, while you focus on the division's overall direction and portfolio growth. Areas of emphasis include team and culture, community engagement, policy and plan development, effective and efficient service delivery, visitor experience and collaboration within the community services division and the Parks and Nature department.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Three years of more experience advancing racial equity through leadership and management practices (volunteer and advocacy work will be considered).
• Eight to ten years of progressively responsible leadership and management experience with responsibility for strategic planning, complex service delivery operations, budgeting, personnel management and collaborative culture building
• Degree in business or public administration, parks management, regional planning or a directly related field.
• May be met through any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
