Job Purpose

The office of Corporate and Foundation Relations, located within the Institutional Advancement office, plays a crucial role at Lewis & Clark. We are tasked with developing contacts on campus to identify key institutional priorities, to identify potential partners in the world of foundations and corporations, and to work with our colleagues to make this vision a reality. Working at Lewis & Clark, you will develop and write grant proposals; track and report on grants; and develop and implement cultivation and stewardship strategies for corporate and foundation donors. You will manage a portfolio of Lewis & Clark programs/departments and outside funding agencies to develop grants and effectively match external funding opportunities with internal program priorities.

What You'll Do
* Catalyze the ongoing process of identifying, evaluating, and working with partners on campus to solicit foundation, corporate, and a limited number of public agency prospects to foster and sustain an expanding donor base committed to the College’s current and emerging strategic initiatives; use Foundation Directory Online, GuideStar,, Raiser’s Edge, and other databases or public web sites as necessary.
* Assist with proposal development for external support of key institutional priorities and programs by collecting, storing, and regularly updating data; helping to conceptualize proposals; and assisting with the writing process.
* Assume primary responsibility for the stewardship of organizational investors’ support of institutional priorities through the timely preparation, revision, and submission of high-quality and professionally written reports, prepared in collaboration (as necessary) with other stakeholders within the College.
* Assist in defining creative strategies to expand CFR’s contributions to achieving the College’s comprehensive fundraising goals.
* Assist faculty and staff to arrange revisions in award terms (extensions, reallocation of budget, etc.).
* In consultation with the AVP, generate preliminary drafts of letters of inquiry and other types of proposals as workflow requires.
* With guidance from the AVP, support prospect management by communicating information of interest to key organizational prospects.
* With the AVP, prepare acknowledgment letters in response to gifts from corporations, foundations, and other organizations.
* Help to maintain up-to-date electronic records on contacts with key prospects; learn and use the Raiser’s Edge database.
* Support shared IA efforts to formalize and revise as necessary policies and procedures related to proposal development and post-award project administration (i.e., compliance).
* Schedule/attend meetings as necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
* Cover for the AVP on rare occasions by responding to time-sensitive requests for assistance with CFR prospects or supporters in his or her absence.
* Maintaining the CFR page on the College’s website.
* Scheduling meetings and preparing agendas.
* Use relevant skills, knowledge of the College, and experience to advise or assist colleagues within Institutional Advancement, the Office of the President, and the Office of the Provost with donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities as time allows.
* Other administrative duties as needed.

Must Haves
* Associate degree (A.S., A.A.) or two-year technical certificate (or 2-3 years of College)
* 3 years of non-profit/fundraising experience

Nice to Haves
* Bachelor's degree
* 3 years experience fundraising in a higher education environment
* 5 years of non-profit/fundraising experience

Pay Rate
* Salary Range $50,000 - $60,000 annually
