CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for Children of Multnomah, Washington, and Columbia Counties volunteers are needed to ensure that the educational, emotional, medical and practical needs of abused, neglected, and abandoned children are identified and met in an often overburdened child welfare system. CASAs get to know the child by visiting them at least once a month and speaking to those involved in the child's life. They monitor the progress of the case while attending periodic meetings and hearings, and make recommendations to the Court with the information gathered. A CASA's ultimate goal is to see that the child is placed as quickly as possible in a safe, loving, permanent home.
Volunteers complete a 35-hour training and typically spend 10-20 hours/month on their case. For more information, visit www.casahelpskids.org or contact Susan King at email@example.com or (503) 988-6528 to register for an orientation.
