After two incredible years at Partners in Diversity, it’s time for me to turn the page and begin a new chapter in my personal and professional journey as I continue my career by bringing my skills and knowledge learned here back to my home state of California.
As I reflect on my time here, I’m filled with gratitude for the experiences, relationships, and growth that shaped these past two years. Joining Partners in Diversity was more than just starting a new job, it was becoming part of a mission-driven community committed to creating opportunities, building connections, and championing diversity in meaningful ways.
I started as the programs and events specialist and later stepped into the role of events and marketing specialist as I found myself enjoying the communications and marketing aspects that came with programs and events, leading me to take over all communications for Partners in Diversity. There were plenty of challenges with balancing event logistics, creating social media content, mapping out timelines, and keeping up with the fast-paced environment that comes with being part of a small but mighty team. However, with the help of the team and my Outlook calendar, we were always able to land on our feet and celebrate yet another successful, impactful event or program.
At Partners in Diversity, like many small nonprofits, we wear many hats (sometimes all at once), and that experience allowed me to try new things and pushed me to grow in ways I never expected. From graphic designer, IT technician, public speaker, photographer, event lead, and more, I have enjoyed playing a small part in a mission much bigger than me. I’ve gained invaluable skills, unforgettable memories, and a deeper appreciation for the power of inclusive spaces.
Every event, program, and connection within this community has contributed to my journey in impactful ways.
To the friends and community I’ve built through Partners in Diversity, a thoughtful thank you for your support, encouragement, and friendship.
To my officemates, the Portland Metro Chamber and Downtown Clean & Safe, it has been a privilege to work alongside you all and witness your commitment and drive to make Portland a flourishing, welcoming city.
To the big boss, Jenny Kim, thank you for your wisdom and advice. You have helped me grow both professionally and personally.
To my supervisor, mentor, and friend Nydia Peña, thank you for being with me to navigate the difficult situations, laugh through the stressful times, and celebrate the successes.
I will miss my Partners in Diversity community, and I will always be grateful for all of you for helping make Portland a unique, diverse, and welcoming space.
Here’s to growth, new beginnings, and staying connected!
