Research Projects

Information is power—especially when addressing systemic inequities and building a more prosperous and inclusive future. Diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are not only values, but practices. We’ve studied how organizations implement these practices to find out what works and what doesn’t, what barriers and obstacles stand in the way, and how DEI-B benefits not only employees themselves but also their organizational productivity. Every project results in a report packed full of information that can help inform our progress.

DEI Impacts Project

Partners in Diversity® is collaborating with Portland State University to understand how diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives affect regional organizations. The goal is to survey employees from 50 medium to large organizations in Oregon and southwest Washington.

Workforce Diversity Project

From 2014–2017, Partners in Diversity® and the Portland Business Alliance worked together, funded by a grant, to study barriers to job access in the Portland metro area, especially in diverse communities and communities that include a high proportion of English Language Learners (ELL). The result was the Workforce Diversity Project and its final report and recommendations.

Diversity Retention Project

Following up on the 2014–2017 Workforce Diversity Project, in 2019 Partners in Diversity began a scientific study to find out why, anecdotally, organizations were reporting high turnover among professionals of color. This project is still underway.
