Passage of Governor Kate Brown’s Future Ready Oregon, SB1545, represents a game changing investment in workforce education. Now the challenge is implementing this complex $200 million package. That will be the focus of the 2022 Oregon Talent Summit on April 12 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Oregon Convention Center. The event is sponsored by the Workforce and Talent Development Board and the Higher Education Coordinating Commission. The keynote speaker will be William Bonvillian. He is Senior Director for Special Projects at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Office of Open Learning and coauthor of Workforce Education, a New Roadmap. Copies of his book are complementary for registered attendees. Future Ready Oregon aims to foster a more diverse, skilled workforce, in particular expanding opportunities for historically underserved communities. Summit participants will discuss the provisions of the legislation along with the collaborative engagement that will be needed among a wide range of partners from education institutions, state agencies, and the business community.
