The Portland JACL and Japanese American Museum of Oregon are teaming up for this year’s Day of Remembrance program at Portland State University’s Lincoln Hall on Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 2 to 4 p.m. The annual event honors the 125,000 Japanese Americans who were incarcerated in the United States during World War II as well as the activist movement for redress from the U.S. government. This year’s event, Threads of Remembrance: A History of Activism, Community and Reparations, will feature performances from Portland Taiko, Tsubaki Buyo Doukoukai and Joe Kye, as well as a panel discussion among redress activists Frank Abe, Chisao Hata, Peggy Nagae and Mira Shimabukuro.  More details about Threads of Remembrance, along with event registration, can be found at https://www.pdxjacl.org/dor/.
