I have been working in the field of humanitarian aid for many years. I met my husband while working in Iraq, and we decided to build our life together in his hometown. After a long fiancé visa process, I moved here and we got married here.
As someone from the Middle East and as the manager of the Greater Middle East Center, I am in a unique position to build connections across communities. Right now, what I want most from the community is stronger collaboration and engagement. I hope to help connect the Greater Middle Eastern community with other communities, organizations, and stakeholders in the region so we can build understanding, solidarity, and shared opportunities together.
I am interested in building civic connections with community organizations, service providers, decision-makers, and local administrators. As someone from the Middle East and as the manager of the Greater Middle East Center, I want to help strengthen relationships between the Greater Middle Eastern community and the broader community. I hope to create partnerships that increase understanding, improve access to resources and services, and ensure that community voices are included in conversations and decisions that affect them.
