Simone Brooks

Assistant City Manager, City of Hillsboro

Simone Brooks serves as Assistant City Manager for the City of Hillsboro. She is responsible for community and organizational connectivity and engagement and oversees six City department, areas or programs.

Simone is passionate about working within the City and with the community to help weave the values of inclusion and equity throughout the interconnected fabrics of both. Born and raised in Oregon, she came to Hillsboro in November 2018 after spending seven years leading a Portland‐based, minority‐owned professional services and staffing firm. The firm focused on creating employment opportunities for individuals of color with the private and nonprofit sectors, and with federal and local government employers in the Pacific Northwest.

Her extensive community involvement has included serving on the boards of the Portland Business Alliance, A Home for Everyone, All Hands Raised, Portland Community Reinvestment Initiatives, Inc., and the Oregon State Board of Licensed Social Workers. Simone previously worked as an environmental consultant focused on hazardous materials management. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine and Environmental Science from Hampton University, a historically Black university.
