Community Engagement

The PSU Summer Business Institute is a two-week campus-based summer program for historically-excluded high school students who want to explore the world of business. The program focuses on helping students build skills and confidence while developing a network of business leaders and peers across the country. The program includes introductory lectures in all business fields – marketing, accounting, supply chain, finance, HR, etc., and site visits. The students earn one college credit at the end of the program and work with mentors to develop a business idea that addresses a social issue. SBI is offered to students at no cost.

We are looking for two to three businesses who can open their doors for a site visit on July 26, 27 or 28. Site visits are typically in the afternoon and can be as short as 1.5 hours or last up to 4 hours. Past visits to companies have included a site tour, a speaker, and a Q&A.
