Our team is preparing to connect BIPOC college students to Portland’s top companies this summer through the Emerging Leaders Internship (ELI). To prepare candidates to intern at our amazing partner companies in the summer, we host a professional training day each spring, known as our “Mock Interview Day.”
This event gives students an opportunity to practice their interview skills, meet peers, network with professionals, and learn about the companies in our ELI family. Over the years, this event has become our signature, and has been recognized as an inspirational and life-changing experience by both students and volunteers alike. When is it?
The dates for ELI 2023 Mock interviews are Saturday, February 25, and Saturday, March 4, split into morning (8:15-11AM) and afternoon (12-2:45PM Pacific) sessions. You may participate in multiple sessions if you wish, for a full day, or multiple days, of engagement! Interviews will be held via Zoom, so evaluators will need a stable internet connection, and device with access to a web camera and microphone.
What part will I play in this event?
You will have a critical role in:
- Making the students feel at ease in the interview setting—we want them to see that yes, they belong at the table
- Providing candidates interview experience in preparation for being invited by a company as a finalist
- Giving helpful and encouraging feedback that both validates the value they bring, and helps them grow in confidence and interview skill
- Sharing with the ELI matching team insight into the readiness of each candidate to engage in a professional-level internship Can my organization send multiple volunteers?
How do I/we sign up?
YES! We need about 200 total evaluators to help prepare our candidates as our pool of diverse talent grows. Please have each individual submit a separate registration. An opportunity to identify a preferred co-evaluator will be provided closer to the event.
