Social Purpose Works is the latest innovative program offering of Metropolitan Family Service (MFS), a Portland Oregon social service agency since 1950. MFS Social Purpose Works recruits pro bono (volunteer) professionals for nonprofit project-based opportunities in Oregon and SW Washington. Social Purpose Works is recruiting a strategic planning expert for the Community for Positive Aging (CFPA). CFPA is a dynamic work and community environment offering a diverse range of services and resources with the singular focus of empowering seniors and low-income adults to live their lives with independence and a sense of fulfillment. CFPA fosters intergenerational relationships, recognizes the wisdom and experience of its elders, demonstrates awareness and respect for the aging process, and is committed to removing barriers to aging well. Older adults have access to a full spectrum of services, including social, emotional, educational, and recreational opportunities. CFPA values and encourages contributions of older adults in our community and empowers people of all ages to support and achieve happy, healthy aging. Your expertise in strategic planning facilitation can help focus priorities, reflect organizational growth and changes in the community and nonprofit landscape, develop a clear identity and create a document that will serve as a reference for CFPA’s work and guide decision making.

Key Deliverables:

-Facilitate CFPA’s leadership team and Board of Directors through a documented process to produce an actionable strategic 3 year plan.

-Gain consensus on key initiatives to be implemented

-Coordinate with Executive Director to develop the corresponding financial plan

-Document the plan with accompanying support, presentation materials and mechanisms to monitor progress

-Help develop metrics and a reporting plan

-Excellent oral and written communication

Education/Experience: Proven experience guiding a group of stakeholders through a strategic planning process. Expertise in marketing and/or general management a plus.

Time commitment: Medium project, estimated 80-120 hrs, to be completed within 4-5 months of start date. Flexible hours with your schedule.

Work Environment/Location: Virtual Resources: The Executive Director is the project champion. Access to their leadership team individually and staff will be provided. If working locally, desk space and a PC can be provided when/if working onsite per CFPA’s COVID policy.
