I moved here in February 2025 (5 months ago) - that option was not provided above for the "Year Relocated" field. It was a professional move for my AVP and Director roles at OHSU--a continuation of pathway programming and work I'm passionate about.
As someone who recently relocated from Atlanta to Portland, one thing I deeply value and need from the community right now is connection with those who are equally committed to equity, education, and opportunity—especially for youth and underrepresented communities. I’m looking to better understand the unique dynamics of Portland’s neighborhoods, its cultural assets, and how I can show up as a trusted partner and collaborator, not just a transplant. On a personal level, I’m also seeking community in a more holistic sense—people to share good food with, discover the outdoors with, and build genuine friendships beyond professional circles. Whether it’s a good spot for live music, a community dinner, or a hike, I want to develop roots in the rhythms of the city.
I’m particularly interested in making civic connections that bridge education, workforce development, and STEM/health/public health—especially those that center youth engagement, community-based solutions, and systems change. I want to engage with local schools, grassroots organizations, and industry leaders to strengthen pathway programs and open up new opportunities for students from historically marginalized communities. I’m also eager to learn from and contribute to existing efforts that make Portland a more inclusive and opportunity-rich city for all. Outside of work, I’m looking for ways to plug into the cultural and creative life of the city—whether that’s through faith-based service, volunteering, local arts, or just showing up to support a neighbor’s cause. I believe civic engagement can and should be personal, and I’m excited to find the spaces where my passions, values, and relationships intersect.
